I was out walking when an elderly gentleman who was walking a dog slipped and fell in the snow. He couldn’t get up and the dog kept pulling him. I went to help but found it difficult to take the dog’s lead and help him. A young lady and two men passed by at the same time and it was the young lady who came to help. The others just looked. I felt a bit like the people in this story.
I had a similar scenario to Milo but without the snow. Around 5 years ago, I was driving home from school and saw an elderly man lying on his back in the road. I think he missed the curb and fell and dropped his walking stick on the pavement. Anyway, I parked up, left little Tigs in the car and went to help him. He was too heavy for me and a couple of others who saw me struggling parked up and helped. I asked him if he wanted a lift home but he said he was ok.
About 15 years ago an elderly Bangladeshi man fell in the road in front of me. People just sat in their cars gawping stupidly.
I went and picked him up, and escorted him to the nearby Mosque and explained he had fallen.
Didn’t think anything about it until 5 years later. I phone a taxi for a short journey. When I got my money to pay, he said ‘free!’ and smiled. I was puzzled and then he explained, “You helped my grandad when he fell going to the mosque”. No idea how he knew it was me or remembered years later.

About 40 years ago I heard a knock on the front door as I was getting ready for work one cold February morning. I went to the door and couldn't see anybody until I looked down and saw the postman lying there, "I slipped on your steps and broke my ankle". We brought him into the house and looked after him and then thought no more about it. A few months later, just before Christmas, there was another knock and there stood the same postman who handed me a bottle of wine; I think I must be the only person who's has a tip FROM the postman at Christmas.
