There should be no excuse for people not getting jabs, unless for medical reasons. I think Employers have every right to insist that employees have had their inoculations , if not, no job.

A "vaccination passport" is a confirmation that someone has had the Covid jag whether it be physical or on an app, for example and it's what you're suggesting will be required in the future.
Can you really see it being allowed in America? It would involve endless challenges in their courts as an infringement of their civil rights.

TCL: "I don't have a travel passport so I would need some other method of confirming I had had the jag. " - It's a jab, a jag is a car. Anyway, you wont be leaving the country then will you. Internally we'll be issued with some sort of ID card with a QR code, more and more places will demand it, especially public transport. Are you an anti vaxer TCL??
Well well well

What do you think of this mushroom25. Not sure they will be flooding in.

Keep in mind the Federal Government could legislate to mandate that a person cannot fly into Australia without having been vaccinated. A new law like this could override existing anti-discrimination laws, giving airlines the green light to refuse service to anyone without proof of vaccination on inbound international flights.
Whatever Australian laws might be made in this regard, many countries are likely to adopt strict vaccination entry requirements, making it very unwise to leave this country without a vaccination.

but that won't stop the virus. all the virus does is stop you becoming seriously ill if you're exposed to it. it won't stop you becoming infected, it won't stop you becoming infectious, it won't stop you being an infection vector. allowing in vaccinated travellers will return the virus to Australia.

I thought I'd posted here, but must have been a different thread.
Our local carehome looked into this with social services and lawyers a long time ago. Obviously they are not intending to make the jab a requirement- they know more than anybody, about human rights, laws, consent, coercion etc, but needed the answers in case anybody asked them.
They cannot make it a requirement, as it comes under discrimination laws and somebody would only have to say it was against their beliefs, to have no hope.
In any case, it wouldn't be practical, because they can't afford retraining, inducting, and qualifying of all new staff, as well as needing experienced people to work alongside them. And if it was a requirement, it would have to involve everybody.

emmie, I think the Australian federal government just closes external borders. The PM took such a kicking over his handling of last year's bushfires (he was tweeting about what a lovely time he was having on holiday in Hawaii) that he's keeping a low profile this time. Whether you can travel between states is up to the state governments.
perhaps the crucifixion of their tourist industry, and the holding of their citizens in effective house arrest are the acceptable price of control
mushroom, I think you're wildly overstating the cost of suppressing Covid down under.
I don't have the full-year figures, but the September-to-September figures for Australia showed GDP down 3.8%. In New Zealand it was 2.2%.

In Britain the full-year figure was down 9.9% - and that was after a fourth-quarter rise.
As well as doing much worse economically, 118,000 Britons have died prematurely. In Australia it's 909; in NZ it's 26.
And apart from an initial lockdown and the occasional short-term local response since then, they've not been under anything like house arrest. Nothing like Britain, where there have been restrictions all year.
Would you believe they can actually go to football matches? Eat out? Go to the beach without the police intervening? They've managed very much better.

There must be no excuse to enforce medication on someone save in very exceptional circumstances. To allow that as a general rule is to help destroy our treasured free society and culture. Folk who see no value in freedom should move to wherever authoritarian government imposes on it's citizens; they'd be happier there and won't destroy what we have fought for and won here.
