Offensive Tweet About Sir Tom Moore

Why are some people so vile?
A man has been charged for tweeting 'The only good Brit soldier is a dead one, burn old fella burn', just what was he thinking by saying something so wicked, if it wasn't for servicemen like Sir Tom then this fool would likely be under German rule!

This clown is very clearly a mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging cockwomble - of this there is no doubt.
But...
Being arrested for insulting a dead man? Really?
I'd have thought the police had better things to do with their time than arrest somebody who had posted a comment on social media, probably while under the influence (he's from Scotland so that's probably a given).

I agree, DD. The problem is, where are the lines, if it's a crime? Within hours of his death, there were "jokes" flying around. What price do you put on which posts? Mild criticism, huge criticism, jokes, comments like this... is it different fines for different levels of being an imbecile?
I think he is a disgusting specimen, but let him drop himself in it, to all future employers etc. How do you objectively measure "offence"?
