I'm not a particular fan of Piers M. and I don't watch Gmtv, but I do pick up what he says and I am disturbed, to say the least, that a non- conformist voice is being silenced. Freedom of speech is essential in a healthy society - even if it offends - mind/opinion control beckons and that way opens the door to totalitarian ism and intolerance.

I do not know, as yet, if Piers has resigned or was told to resign. I watch very little of his tv work and do not have many feelings for him either way. I know he likes to over talk some of the people he interviews but the same could be said for people like Jeremy Paxman and many political interviewers.
But, if he has resigned as a matter of principle then I admire him for it. There isn't so much integrity around these days and he potentially has surrendered a large income.
His replacement needs to be someone who can continue to challenge without fear nor favour.
