Theland - // Andy, I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with you. //
No need to apologise to me, I have never, ever, and will never, ever, apologise to anyone anywhere for holding and expressing a viewpoint - apologising means I don't really think what I say has any merit - and I do. Always,
// Aren't Brits advised to learn about local sensibilities before traveling to some countries where behaviour we would deem normal could be problematic?
So is it not unreasonable to expect Muslims to respect our traditions of free expression? //
All Western visitors are advised of cultural differences, and accepting them is the courtesy we offer as visitors. There are of course plenty of exceptions who are tolerated by the Muslim population, their crass ignorance is usually ignored.
And here, if you think about it, the vast majority of Muslims integrate perfectly well into British culture, there are exceptions of course, but that is human nature.
The fact remains that if every Muslim expected their own way in this country, there would far far more unrest and trouble than there is, caused by the relatively small, but high profile, few who would not be satisfied with less than a Muslim planet.
But as I have advised, that vast majority xo-exist happily, and they do not make news - the few that do make a fuss, and here is a perfect example, are held up as though they represent the Muslim majority, which of course, they do not - any more than beer-swilling shorts-wearing British oafs in Muslim countries represent you or I.
