I fly a fair bit - correction - I did fly a fair bit before the world went mad, usually at least half a dozen times a year, and I cannot remember the last time my passport wasn't scanned at each end, whether it be by somebody in a booth or self-service, so I think TTT is right.
I really wish that a division could be made between a vaccination passport, ie something globally accepted to be used for international travel; and any kind of dingus or dohickey that would be used within England (or maybe the UK) for admittance to shops, pubs and so on.
should we have to show them on the bus? if so doesn't that make the drivers more at risk and having to take responsibiity for their production by the public.
woofy, the general term "passport" is being used but in reality it will be integrated into the NHS system and in turn the Passport system as is already the case with other vaccinations. You'll get a QR code to flash at who ever demands it.
emmie, I think it will extend to public transport and you'll have to show a QR code to board a bus or get through the barrier at trains stations. They'll probably integrate it with ticket purchase systems, oyster card etc. Infrastructure is pretty much there as it is.
There’ll never be an internationally approved passport. That doesn’t really make sense
Individual countries will have their own rules about who to let in.
As for the internal thing, as previously stated I don’t think they would work. Not on a compulsory basis. And the pub idea is bonkers. So there may be situations where it will help to have some sort of proof of vaccination. But by the time it’s sorted out it may well no longer matter
The code system simply will never work. Like I say by the time it is up and running it won’t matter much any more. If we’d had such a system in the first place it might have helped but it seems like overkill once the pandemic has eased naturally. Which it will quite soon.
