//The EC president admitted that they were like t e a huge vessel trying to manoeuvre in a canal (!)//
erm this is like Russia saying they lost the war because they were too big! They er didnt by the way - they were by far the biggest winners

I doubted it I thought it was extremely unlikely Macron ( quasi ineffective) wd say that "we were crap at this"

My prediction is that nothing will be blocked.
Mind you, India is talking of doing what the EU is talking of doing, and that hasn't been barely mentioned.
It's a sad day when the world can't unite properly in a common goal - and we're talking about "international covid passports"??
But it's been like that since the start.

I just feel sad that regardless of who made the mistake in not securing supply prior to it becoming available people are dying. I don't think we should be smug because we gambled on a few favourites and they came through. I wonder if when our most vulnerable are done we ought to slow and let the rest have some of our supply to help them catch up. In a global pandemic the old line really applies None are safe til we all are safe. A global problem needs a global view not a national one.
Oh yes I forgot, if we slow down vaccination we might not be able to go on our two weeks of Sun flashing our vaccinated status like a platinum card, nights on the lash might recede into the distance for a while, and the economy will be slower to recover. But our friends in other countries want to visit grandparents, get their kids back to school, and have space in their hospitals too.
What did you do in the covid war dad?
We were fine son, had our jabs and got on with our lives while the rest of the world was dying.

I really do want the EU countries to get their jabs as soon as possible. I definitely am not gloating. But this doesn't mean I approve of the EU's attitude on this. It has been abysmal and the administration has shown it's true colours. I am glad we left and I am relieved and happy our vaccination programme has proved a success. It's entirely natural to want the best for ourselves. We want the best for our families, and our country.
