No. But I would say that, wouldn't I. It's the 5yr olds who are being force fed this guff, along with other guff, in school who might actually believe it.

"Then you are part of the problem. (Clue they dont say it directly)"

Meaning... they don't say it at all. When I read it I did not feel like I was being asked to apologise for being white.
No. You would need to be particularly paranoid, or unaware of all history, to translate it that way. It surprises me from a "lecturer", but there seem to be a lot of crossed wires here.
I quite agree pixie...
on a side note, why are the government letting schools teach this guff
thye know its wrong, let alone all the trans mania pulava, i think its al a kind of brain washing, this is the new order you will obey or be cancelled harassed bullied, free thinking is being eroded, for the new fascist ideology wrapped up in equality.
What exactly are they teaching them, out of interest? My gd is 5, and frankly they haven't been there much the last year. I don't have any others on school now.
What is the curriculum actually saying?
I'd like to see the Oxfam staff survey in full rather than just snippets.

It sounds on the face of it to be quite divisive and that's not how a survey should be.Everyone should be able to answer all questions freely and not be channelled into the 'types' that the working party who devised it seem to want.
I agree... one phrase, apparently in a "survey", which is then "a document". And only parts. Awful reporting.
You don’t need to be paranoid to translate it that way and I think it’s rather arrogant to tar anyone who does with that brush. I see an awful lot of apologising going on right now whether it be for colonialism, slavery, perceived racism, sexism, perceived white privilege, or a myriad of other isms and ists so it’s hardly surprising that when a charity starts spouting ‘woke’ words, as many of them
do now, the listener/reader comes to what has become an understandable conclusion.
I don't think so, naomi. It is not rational to understand our history and present, and also take a general comment personally. It's paranoid. As far as the link goes, Oxfam have made a general comment. To suggest that white individuals need to apologise for it, is... weird.
I know you don't think so, pixie - but then there's a lot of things you don't think that others do.
It doesn't make them right. Your addition of "perceived" to your post, could make it look like you don't believe it really exists... which shows how print can be misleading. Or, may show where the paranoia comes from. I don't find it threatening in any way.
//Your addition of "perceived" to your post, could make it look like you don't believe it really exists..//

It could - but only if you try very hard to misunderstand.

Why "perceived" then? If it meant nothing?
Who said it meant nothing other than you? People who cry 'racist' very often 'perceive' racism where it doesn't exist... etc. That's why I used the word 'perceive'.
It doesn't matter really, tbh. I guess the real question would be- do you think racism and white privilege still exist? No need to prevaricate.
Racism exists and it exists all ways, and privilege exists, also all ways.
