and that black mark stays on file for 6 years. That is just unfair.

tut tut tut gromit, didn´t you mean to say mark of colour?
I've listened to the song a couple of times, and I cannot understand where "racism" comes into it. Is it because it is sung with a Caribbean lilt to it and depicts only white construction workers?
NeedToKnow, so you agree with someone making an accusation, no matter how frivolous, and the Police are obliged to record it and report it on any requests about you without and trial or Judge?

I think we call that a Police State. Now that may be your idea of utopia(I am judging from you posts) but it certainly isnt mine.
Sanmac, thats the problem being highlighted.

I could accuse you of doing something (even though I know you didnt) and the Police are obliged to report it. And that would be enough to tarnish your reputation and potentially block employment form some years.

NTK //"and could stop you getting a job."

Follow the rules then, simple!

If you're involved in incidents that end up needing to be reported to the police if they're "non-crime" hate incidents or not don't you think an employer should know about that before they decide to throw you into their environment? Because I do. // - you mean you are happy that anyone with an axe to grind can effect YOUR employability etc with no evidence and no due process? Right oh! think it through.
If that's the case, ymb, living in the UK must be like continually walking on egg shells...Absolutely ludicrous and asinine.
"you mean you are happy that anyone with an axe to grind can effect YOUR employability"

As stated in the article...

"As a result of Hate Crime Guidelines, which took effect in 2014, police are obliged to record any incident a member of the public believes was motivated by hate, even if nothing criminal took place."

They're obligated to report it. If your employer deems it worthy to not employ you due to the report then that's up to them and yes they should know about the reports.

That's a completely separate issue entirely to how the reports are obtained and if they should be.

where was this dredged from - getting the gtr manchester police to record anything is an uphill task - altho I do agree that 60% of entries on the PNC are not about crime

The GMP had no idea this fella

was my next door neighbour: chrissakes our house numbers differ by two.....jesus what do we pay our precept for?
Over 10,000 non criminal "hate" incidents recorded by plod in a year. If no crime is committed why are they so keen to keep records. They appear unwilling to keep records of real crimes and kick burglary and car theft crimes into the long grass within hours of being informed. The though police are here. Another Orwell prediction come to pass.

"The wheels on your house go round and round, all day long".

Inverness footie fans to Ross County fans. No arrests were made ... but everybody had a damned good laugh.
I was hoping that AB's finest would give an explanation as to why whistling bob the builder can be anything other than annoying.

I'll keep watching.
I don't qualify as one of AB's finest by any stretch of the imagination, I would love to comment on that particular story but without any flesh on the bones it's difficult.

Suffice to say there have always been people who abuse any avenue to complain about stuff and nonsense.

Give them an extra way to do that and they will, in droves.
We are not getting the whole story here
