If they had killed Harry, they would have had to stay and face the consequences. It's an abuse of diplomatic immunity that she fled the country. As NJ said, the charge would probably not have been too serious. She should have stayed and faced it, not been a spineless coward.

They are defending a civil case ( the one in America ) altho I would be inclined to settle. I dont think anyone seriously holds that if you have diplomatic immunity then you can run over and kill a 19 y old.
we havent had ( and will never get ) the back story - a bit like Yvonne Fletcher - the right advice was given immediately and ignored ( and they actively chose to follow the wrong advice)

listen to the judge at 22:48. It was an accident she would almost certainly not have been jailed. If she'd hung around it'd all be over now she must carry this burden the rest of her life. It wouldn't surprise me, assuming she has a trace of guilt, if she came over here off her own bat. It's the sort of thing that would eat away at you.
