It is a sin to mock the afflicted, & Diane is seriously ill. I seldom have agreed with her, but she once demonstrated some intelligence (she was a university graduate) when she appeared with M.Portillo on This Week.
I'm not qualified to say, but I personally think she shows signs of dementia. She is no credit to the Labour Party & she should retire asap

It is only a 'sin' if you believe it to be so as a Christian, and I do not.
Secondly, you have no evidence whatsoever that 'Diane' - (are you personally aquainted?) is ill to any degree, that is purely speculation and you cannot state it as a fact without some evidence.
But then, you have long and consistent form in that area, so it's no surprise that you are bringing your standard modus operandi onto this thread.

I was brought up to believe that 'It is wicked to mock the afflicted'. Although it is derived from scripture it is embraced by many who are not Christian. To say that it is only wicked if you are a Christian leads to the inevitable conclusion that you consider the afflicted to be fair game. How revealing, and how shameful.

I did not say that 'to mock the afflicted is only wicked if you are a Christian', I said it was only considered to be 'a sin' if you are a Christian, which is not the same thing at all.

I always found Mr Portillo to be insufferably arrogant and pompous during his time in Parliament, an attitude he managed to physically manifest in his singularly perculiar hairstyle.
Having embraced the hubris of political defeat, he has succesfuuly reinvented himself, and revealed hitherto unknown characteristics as a TV presenter of knowledge, warmth and humour - and mainfested that change with far less attention-seeking coiffure!
He did bring his obvious intellignece and political accumen to This Week, and bore the hideous reality of being manacled to Ms Abbott for the duration of his tenur with wry wit, and as you point out, a number of non-verbal indications of his exact opinion of whatever infantile nonsense was coming out of her mouth at any time it was open.

I disagree - I think the OP is valid, and worthy of disucssion, and it seems I am not alone.

Fascinating how so many on this forum showing knowledge of the 'Scriptures', put so much glee into mockery and point scoring, before the practice of the more positive moral ideas in those Scriptures.

I, like others outside her voting area, have only her public profile and pronouncements ion which to form a judgement about her character and abilities.
Frankly, on that evidence, neither of those are shown to be within a country mile of the expected and required levels to speak to the national media on behalf of a major party in the way she does.
It's to their detriment and reputational damage, as well as hers.
