They are probably getting on with their lives and jobs and not reading blogs.
Mind you the term "curry restaurant" is not one I've come across :-)
And I suspect there aren't too many Asian restaurants with the word "curry" in the name: not because of anything colonial, mind you

All of the following have to go. Colonialism, don’t you know?
avatar, bandana, bangle, bhelpuri, blighty, bungalow, calico, cashmere, catamaran, cheetah, cheroot, chintz, chit, choky, churidar, chutney, coir, cot, cowrie, cummerbund, cushy, curry, dal, dinghy, dharma, doolally, dungarees, godown, gymkhana, gunny, guru, jodhpurs, jungle, jute, karma, kedgeree, khaki.

Culture evolves in many ways, and on many levels, and the apparent corruption of the word 'curry' into a catch-all phrase is simply another example.
Like anyone who has a deep love and knowledge of Asian food, this lady finds the unbrella term for the subtleties and differences of her native cuisine to be lazy.
But that is simply how culture works - people will use catch-all phrases in the main, and a (very) few people will know all the nuances and differences.
The sensible thing to do is accept that your interest and knowledge is very much in the minority, and trying to force it onto society will not only end in failure, it will make you look small-minded, chippy, arrogant, and humourless.
I as a music writer love heavy metal music.
I completely accept and understand that most people who know less about it than I do, call it 'heavy metal' or 'heavy rock'.
They probably don't know, and care less, about the multiple sub-genres there are - thrash metal, stoner metal, nu-metal Goth metal, symphonic metal, death metal, doom metal, rap metal .... the list goes on.
Because I was born in Wolvherhampton in the Midlands, birthplace of this specific style of music, am I going to start moaning that people are generalising about something that is varied and multi-layered?
Hardly!
Who would care? Who would be interested in taking me seriously?
I would be labeled - quite correctly - as a sniffy, superior, pompous boor with too much time on his hands and an over-inflated opinion of his own importance.
Anyone who has a deep and abiding passion for anything, has to accept that for every one of him or her, there are a million others who are simply not bothered, and never are going to be bothered, and will not take kindly to being lectured about something they regard as utterly unimportant.
That's a fact of life this lady needs to learn, absorb, and integrate into her life, which will stop her making a fool of herself with prononcements like this.
As for the notion that the word 'curry' is 'rooted in British colonialism', I am treating that stupidity with the interest and attention it deserves, which is absolutely none at all.

Andy, I won’t have you talking about yourself in such a way. You are a much beloved member of answerbank and as such deserving of attention and respect.

I was careful to say I 'would be' labelled as such, I know some think of me that way anyway - I can live with that.
