UK Government to call in the ARMY to drive Food Carrying Trucks to replenish empty supermarket shelves
UK Transport Companies are short of thousands of HGV drivers. Is this the result of Brexit sending 25.000 truck drivers back to there own E/U Countries. Have the Brexiteers shot themselves in the foot ?.

10.06 No Problem , Bobbin.
Your desperate times seem to be on-going, Gulliver. Everything you post is desperate.
Question Author
10.22 Not as desperate as you are Naomi.
We did not expel 25,000 EU drivers.
They returned home to be with their families during the pandemic.
The Government are carrying out the will of the electorate who voted to leave the EU. A big part of the leave vote was to reduce immigration.
So it is wrong to blame the Government.
But the tightened up immigration rules because of Brexit has contributed to this problem.
Bringing in the Army is a sticking plaster remedy. We need more British drivers by that will take a long time to train more. And pay and conditions are not appealing. So recruiting might be difficult until that changes.
It means that the employers will have to train their own staff again, instead of taking the cheap option of employing foreign labour. True also for plumbers, plasterers, electricians, butchers etc etc.

It will be short term pain, but worth it. British jobs for British people, as Gordon Brown would say.
Gully’s the gift that keeps on giving, haha

National Service , To train Males (when they reach the age 21 ) to drive trucks .
No, Gromits right 100%. Short term something needs to be done, things may improve soon when the pingedmic ends for double jabbed, but longer term the road haulage companys, perhaps with govement support, should sort this out and look at training recruitment, retention and encouraging back qualifed drivers allready here

Males- not females- can you explain that gulliver?
Brexit hasnt helped as its harder to replace those who would of left anyway- drivers like nurses use to come and go from the EU, but 25000 werent forced to leave by Brexit- your figures out by nearly 25000
Why not try and accentuate the positives? Daily whining and complaining is depressing you gulliver1. There’s a blue sky, flowers in bloom, you live in a beautiful world. Try and see it so, it’s all about you.

10 55, Stop making it up as you go along Bobbin , watch a few news programmes or read a few newspapers, but not the Sun or the Mirror.
Oh the irony
It looks like Boris is getting very worried of losing his position Gully to Sunak, When bosses get a bit nervy of losing their grip they start looking towards demotion especially when they know that someone has a much better brain to run the country.
Gulliver, I've just had a look at your profile and the questions you've posted. There's a very definite theme running there that amounts to an obsession. That should worry you. Positively unhealthy.
Heed naomi24s words gulliver1. She is wise beyond her years. Obsession is seldom noticeable to the obsessed.
thanks ellipsis. I cant open that but am aware of the option being considered, I was hoping for a link to show that 25000 lorry drivers had been sent back to there own country by Brexit
