Leon, it's possible Shipman wasn't a killer when he became a GP. However, this young man had his licence taken away after an assault investigation, and got it back only last month

The issue of a licence is irrelevant. Anybody who is prepared to shoot dead five people, including his own mother, is scarcely likely to worry about an administrative detail. If he hadn't had his licence returned, are you suggesting he would not have committed this atrocity?

I’m surprised that someone who’d been on an anger management course had his firearms licence returned to him. Something very wrong there.

It seems that you need two references with your application for a gun license.
I can only hope that the two people who gave Davidson his references really knew him and spoke the truth.

There must be a full inquiry as to who decided his gun and licence should be returned to him, and those people should lose their jobs as they are obviously not fit to do it.
