Spice 14.18. I don't need to, I'm 70 years old, still fit and well so far, and since I've worked from the age of 13years old, I can afford not, its called retirement I think. I worked every morning and evening, before school and after school, plus all day Saturday, for £1. 10 shillings a week, I kept the ten shillings and had to give my mother the £1, the £1 was my board ( that was at only 13 years old) I had 4 other older brothers, and an older sister who all had to pay board, of course a lot more than my £1. The reason for my input was we were not well off with no farther in the house, but along with my fab MUM who is still alive today at 100 years old it taught me the right ethics in all directions, and to this day my mum still values every pound she has, and so do I. Work for your money and you become a better person, give people money for doing nothing, and all they will want is more, and become total ***, and thats what we have today. The *** of today don't understand the reason you have to go to work, (you work to live,) and that has always been the case, you pay your way FIRST, then if you have funds left over lucky you, its your'e to spend as you wish. I can only ever remember asking my mum to lend me 2 shillings once, because I wanted to buy something and hadn't got any money left from my 10 shillings. She asked me what I'd done / spent my own money on, and had to write it down for her to see. After looking at it she said there was certain things that I could have done without, but I hadn't done to bad. She said on this occasion she would lend me the 2 shillings but it had to be paid back within the next 2 weeks, 1 shilling a week, and this would be the first and last time she would lend me money. Her words were if you want to buy something different with your money, you have to do without something you normally buy, or work harder for more money. Hope this helps?:0)
