"The British Retail Consortium" Which represents all the major food and retail chains in the UK.
Has said it expects to see food shortages and more empty shelves by the end of this week.
This is no longer about... will Christmas be OK ......It's about keeping the wheels turning and the lights on so we can get to Christmas..... Come on Boris ... time to step in. Before there is a winter of discontent under your leadership.

Its not a case of disagreeing or agreeing with gully, its looking at the facts. As someone who normally sells product to the EU, I personally am hitting brick walls trying to trade with the EU. They are making a scapegoat of the UK in a vain attempt to try and stop other Nations from thinking about coming out. Boris did not make good deals and God knows he had plenty...

Well, I'm off to Aldi this morning, nice 45 mile round trip but the scenery is fantastic lol! maybe I should take some pics of the shelves, not necessarily empty, just the products they do have stretched out to cover the fact some items are completely missing.

Naomi -a shortage is a shortage: deficiency in quantity.
It does not matter how that shortage is created, if you can't get cat food or frozen veg in the supermarket there is a shortage -I don't understand why that cant sink in. ...actually I can but hey ho. Fingers in ears la la la 'there are no shortages' 'we will not die'......
Bobbi, calling someone 'confused' is hardly abuse, come on.....

09.50 You thought I was going to answer your post with an insult.
You thought wrong then Naomi, and not for the first time.
APG, there is no 'shortage' - the country has more than enough - but there is difficulty in transporting supplies. In fact the government is considering utilising the army to fill the gap. To quote you, I don't understand why that can't sink in.
APG, there may be a local shortage of food due to no drivers available to deliver but there is not a general shortage.
Gulliver, don't kid yourself. I have better things to think about than you.
OK I think I will have to agree to disagree regarding the shortages Naomi, we are suffering greatly over here at the moment but I suppose if its not on your doorstep it won't bother you.

But Why is there a shortage of Tanker drivers , Hgv drivers, Doctors , nurses fruit and veg pickers,... shelf fillers.... when they have anything to put on the shelves.

Non, je ne regrette rien...

10.04, Redhelen are you refering to N/I ?
Yes Gulliver
Redhelen, //I suppose if its not on your doorstep it won't bother you. //

I didn't say that.

Gulliver, When were you last in this country?
Despite Gulliver's kindly concern, my local supermarkets are stuffed with French, Italian, Spanish wine, cheese etc.
I chose Aussie wine and Cornish Yarg though.

10 .04 R/H , Are the shortages bad at the moment in N/I.
Is it supermarket shelves or fuel ?.
My MIL kindly informed us that at least the fat people will now lose weight because of the shortages!!

10 .24 Lucky you . ,,You have obviously got a very experienced Supermarket manager where you are, who could see this coming and made sure they were well stocked up .
Well done that man / woman.
Sorry to disappoint you, gulliver, but there are no problems in the shops where I live either.
I watched a clip of Jeremy Vine this morning where a lady rang in , she worked at a learning centre for HGV drivers, she says it wasn’t Brexit or Covid , it was the waiting period to take their test that was causing the backlog and said the centre was extremely busy with people applying daily
