How do you know what other people are doing, maggiebee? Or don’t you? No, you don’t.
Greta could be a real force for good if she utilised her talents more productively in rallying people around the world to form groups to clean up our planet - particularly our oceans. As it is, she’s just blowing more hot air.

//How do you know what other people are doing, maggiebee?// I have a look at AB some time before 9 am - certain people online. Go to work then come home mid afternoon - same people online. Go out for a meal and have another look when I come home - same folk still online. Think I could make an educated guess about what some people are doing.
bobbinwales, "antigrowth" ( degrowth) and 'overshoot' - all taboo -would NEVER be uttered by any 'Leader'...
"All paths out of overshoot (genuine solutions) involve a contraction of the species and a decline of material/energy throughput. There are no exceptions"
... no fantasy, 'always annual GDP growth', take that HARD kick in our 'entitled' - at least constant/ preferably always rising - Standard of Living expectations (cf GDP ) ... anathema to all politicians, their perceived ultimate obscenity.
Wexler is at least more honest than Boris, and more specific than Greta, but has no realistic solution, AND even he does not even mention the biggest problem - mining fossil fuels, which supply 85% of the energy the world uses, is just too expensive now to sustain the wild, cheap ride we had on coal and *especially* oil to sustain our current civilizational profligacy; and then we have that unknown scale of the real extent of debt ( they don't, honestly, know ).

Yes TTT, she is again having a go about climate change, what are you doing? having a go at her again. Why? the truth is I think you and many others on here are very jealous of her capabilities. For one she's got the guts to stand there and do it, and do it very well. Anyone can sit at home and spout off about this and that, ( anyone) Naomi. Your post @ 15.23 refers yet again to the oceans being cleaned up, you mentioned the same yesterday in a post, so I will again mention what I said to you yesterday. That Greenpeace have been trying, and still are along with others, for many years now, doing just that. But like Gretta have met hostility, but the latter has not stopped them, neither will it stop Gretta. Keyboard complainers have nothing to show for their hours of input, unlike Greenpeace and Gretta.

teacake- I was'nt aware Greenpeace had met with hostility for trying to clean up oceans. Do you have a link to the story because most people seem to agree they need cleaning up and i never seen any hositility to that
I can only guess that you have never heard of the Rainbow Warrior and the French Secret Service

Stickbottle. of course I've heard of Rainbow warrior, but as you know really am sure, they weren't bombed whilst retrieving plastic from the oceans to clean them up, they were trying to stop nuclear tests, Yes it was wrong for agents to bomb them but it was not because they were cleaning up oceans
Their operations and ideals are broad spectrum
Does it really matter that it was not over plastic pollution ?
The effects of an atomic bomb would have had the same devastation on sea life for hundreds of miles around
