oh for heaven's sake, ymb, Superman's been romancing Lois Lane since 1938 and only in 2021 you're asking "Why?" Because it's good for stories to have other characters in them, that's why: best friends, lovers, villains. This isn't new!
I am know jno, you missed the point completly in your rush to have a dig at me.
I am talking about what I would do from a commercial point of view. If Superman was not attached to anyone then no one is offended one way or another and you have the biggest possible audience. Doting otherwise will reduce the audience no matter how right on you are about it, millions wont be and will vote with the wallet. No good comercial sense is it?
Do you feel the same about Spiderman's relationship with Mary Jane, or Batman / Vicky Vale or Iron Man / Peppa Potts or Captain America / Agent Carter or Aquaman/Mera

Do you think that the Superman franchise would've done much better had he and Lois Lane just been buddies???
All I said is that I personally wouldn't bring any relationship into such a character to maximise profit
How is that making it a big deal? And if you think this will draw in millions it wont. People are bigoted whether you like it or not, ask Gordon Brown he was collared by one!
Again remember - this is canon Superman and has been limited to the comic books and it's not even Superman. It's his son. Yes he will carry on the name but the brand (ie. the cinema brand) will carry on as Clarke Kent / Lois Lane.
Just thinking of all the superhero films over the past few decades - if you were directing them, or had written them, are you saying that you'd make every asexual in order to appeal to the widest possible audience?
