dreadfull crime of course. Not sure theres any easy answer. Whatever controls there are on knives, bow and arrows, guns, swords, sharp scissors, people can still get them no problem if they want to. Some killers are happy to die and may prefer it to 30 years locked up so am not sure capital punishment helps, am not sure they work out the possable consequences before they kill

I am not a supporter of the Conservative Party, but this really saddens me. Whatever political party an MP represents, they don't deserve this. A sad day for us all.

you mean like no one made mileage out of the shooting of Kennedy

(Kennedy's civil rights program was bogged down in Congress as we well know how, and Lyndon Johnson used the death as a catalyst to get the stuff thro - so yes it was Lyndon Johnson who was ruined by Vietnam (also started by Kennedy) who got Kennedy's rgram into law)

Yeah OK the burning of the Reichstag ( by Martinus van Lubbe I think) was used to suspend democratic rights at the end of the Weimar republic. depends who does it I suppose

I agree and think that applies just as much to Ynnafymmi, trying to push this in the direction of Angela Rayner and Labour. Now is a time for condemnation of a heinous killing, not for finger pointing. I'm sure the killer's motivation will be known soon enough.

I see what you are saying but my belief is that 5 years on death row thinking about it then strung up is the way to go. Why should we pay for these oxygen thieves? In addition there is always some do-gooder wanting to get them out (just look at Lord Longford) and often they succeed.

I make no apologies for wanting a life for a life (where the evidence is indisputable).

@17.05.When Angela Rayner was asked whether she meant what she said or if it was just a joke,she said explicitly she meant every word she said,straight down the line,all Tory MPs were vermin and scum.She didnt back down from her terminology.Looks like some nut-job with a knife took her words at face value.

Ynna @17:13. At present you have no idea why this maniac killed an unarmed MP. You may be right, but I somehow doubt it. Someone deranged enough to commit a cold blooded murder isn't going to pay much attention to another MP. Let's see what the police can find out before jumping to conclusions.
