Joe Biden takes a swipe at the Special relationship Boris though the UK had with the US.
Backing the French as a loyal ally saying....."I had a great meeting with President Macron. The US has no older no more Loyal ally than France .they have been with us from the beginning and we will always be there for them. ............( I always thought UK AND USA were joined at the hip)...
..Oh dear Boris what have you said to him ?.

It's probably old Joe getting mixed up again.

12.17 It seems a bit of a stupid statement to make even from Joe
You do realise that France fought with the American colonialists against the UK, recognised the new nation and was instrumental in the Treaty of Paris 1783 which all resulted in the formation of the US of A.
They did, but that was a long time ago and it wasnt quite as clear cut as you make it out to be. The French were hoping to still have some of the colony as it expanded.

Most Americans are not keen on the French, indeed many despise them.

Biden, the fake Irishman, is no friend of the British. And I am no friend of his.
what were the Americans calling the French after 9/11? Something not entirely complimentary if I recall.
yes
no
you have forgotten the UKUSAAus fracas

where zee Fransh said the Australian change of heart ( to american arms against china ) would cost them billions
"The US has no older no more Loyal ally than France" - so obviously they joined NATO at the first opportunity.....
It’s called diplomacy.
Something we ought to learn
Can you - just for once - provide a link to the whole statement where he criticises the UK?

If not then, like I say, it’s diplomacy intended to mend bruised relations with France.
Well probably hear pretty much the same thing from Johnson and Macron when the current dispute is sorted out
//Something we ought to learn//

I know your another one on here who takes any opportunity to bash the British but are you seriously saying we dont do diplomacy?

All this was started by the French, Macron in particular, no doubt to try and bolster his election chances next year. Hardly diplomatic by the French especially when most of the fishermen have been given licence because they were able to prove they fished there. Using the EU tracking they should have been using to fish legally anyway.

It doesn't seem very long ago that Boris was in the USA doing fantastic trade deals with Joe, to replace what trade the UK had lost since leaving the E/U .
.... Thought they were on very good terms with each other...
//Can you - just for once - provide a link to the whole statement where he criticises the UK?//

Just enter 'Biden French' into a search engine:

So it looks like USA is going to back France in the fishing dispute againt the UK.
They always tell people that they have a close bond. We've been silly believing it over the years.
He's got to be nice to the French at the moment, after knifing them over the submarine deal
How will they "back" the French? Send US gunboats? Anything else is just hot air (like COP26).
So no link as usual then?

Just because Biden or indeed anyone else praises/flatters France or indeed anyone else does not mean that he is criticising the UK or anyone else.
So unless you can show me where he IS criticising the UK, or denying the “special relationship” then its yet another poorly aimed swipe by you I’m afraid
And by the Daily Express too it would seem
It was in The Times on Saturday.
ABerrant - erm yes
1783 and all that

France wanted to be paid off for helping, and the british helped in the negotiations....
France as a result of war cost went bankrupt - yup that was the word used - 1789 just before their own Revolution....

( an eef you go roun Versailles - the decor at the date of the revolution is the previous years as they cd not get the loo-loo together for a new set)
I remember clips of Barack Obama on YouTube telling dozens of leaders exactly the same thing... our closest ally etc. It's just something that's said to be diplomatic. Now if he'd said 'unlike those bits I hate em ' then you should read something into it
