Owen Patterson Has Resigned As Mp

Owen Patterson ,after speaking with his family,has resigned as an MP and will therefore trigger a by-election.After the last couple of days I don’t think he had much option.

We only have Mr Patterson's perception for the reasons for his wife's tragic suicide, that does not make it a fact, merely his view.

As for his resignation being 'good for him' - being caught bang to rights abusing his position hardly left him with any other option - but you make it sound like he did the honourable thing, as opposed to what he did do - the only thing.
