Boris Johnson has threatened to get swift revenge on Lindsay Hoyle for humiliating him at PMQs last week .
Boris muttered the words... "not for long",, after the speaker said "... "in this house I am in charge"..
"You may be the PM of this Country , but in this house I am in charge" Apparently Boris does not like being told what to do ....Who would have thought that.

Gulliver seems to know - and you agreed with him. You pointed us to the OP.
^that to anneasquith.
The PM does not hire & fire the speaker, that would be disastrous if he/she did, think about it.
Khandro //The PM does not hire & fire the speaker,//
NO, but the house can, as Bercow found out.
This is one thread that really does need a link to a reputable source (if there are any reputable news sources these days!!)
gulliver doesn't do links of any description Pat.
danny, as you say, the mail is 'alleging' too.
danny //NO, but the house can, as Bercow found out.//

Bur why would the 'house' wish to change the speaker ?
that just won't do, alleging and saying are not the same.
it doesn't khandro. he was elected by secret ballot. I can't see him being deselected any time soon.
Khando, I am not saying that anyone wants to change the speaker.Personally I think he is the best speaker since George Thomas.
he certainly is a major improvement on John Bercow.

i didn't compare him with Churchill, he was a one off,
Question Author
Even Boris's own MPs are furious that Boris mouthed the words "not for long"
as an apparent threat to remove him.
Whose he got in mind, failing Grayling?
I think the Speaker comes across as what the Speaker should be - an impartial moderator of the House, who runs things smoothly, and knows how to deal with a large group of people who have large egos and trenchant opinions as part of their job requisites.

His Lancashire accent just underlines his no-nonsense approach.
Question Author
The rub is , the Speaker ain't a member of the Con Party .
Not really. Bercow was but he was a thorn in the Tory's side.
I like Lindsy Hoyle just as I liked his dad Douglas Hoyle
