With reference to the edict to wear masks in shops as from tomorrow I'd like to know what constitutes a "shop". Banks? Building Societies, walkways between 2 streets but covered and with shops on either side, libraries (as they often sell things too) cafés with a counter which sells cakes etc??? Has anyone thought this through?

I'd suggest that most people would have a common sense view of what 'a shop' constituted - but that wouldn't apply here.

My dictionary defines it as "a room or building where goods are sold" which is quite relevant to my question above.
Banks and Building societies are included in the legislation. The definition of an enclosed space is the one used for the no-smoking legislation. Pubs and restaurants are not included.
The examples you give in your OP, I would consider the right place to wear a mask.

Unless of course I was trying to split hairs.
Just wear a mask whenever you are in an enclosed space containing other people other than your own house, apartment, condominium, flat, tepee, cave, mud hut, caravan, tree-house, igloo, cell, etc etc...Keep it simple.
Bit of nous needed in these times. If it has a door and/or a roof wear a mask.
Sanmac.... :-))
Why are you so bothered when you are clearly intent on not wearing a mask anyway in your misguided act or civil disobedience?

Sanmac- so pubs, restaurants etc have no roof or doors?? I don't think so.
You wanted Sanmac to post every type of building?! Did etc. etc. not suffice?
Eh?

strictly speaking a courtroom isn't a shop, unless you think justice is being sold to the highest bidder, but you would be wise to wear a mask there.
Yurt not wrong Dave.
Thanks, ML, I forgot to add yurt to my list of accommodations.
Nice double act there! :-))
You also forgot the doghouse.
And the cardboard box and car-trunk...Just so many and so little time and imagination:)
I have worked in my shops and rooms, maintenance shop, tool room, press shop etc. Strange thing is that you couldn't buy anything from them ( except for baccy, fags and booze from some shady character's 'special locker' ).
So was that your sideline, Tony. ;-)
