A man removes a poster containing a quote from the Prophet Mohammed. What do you think happened to him when Mohammed's followers found out? This is in 2021. And not a lone 'extremist' or a single 'radicalised' person suffering from mental health issues. This is a mob, incited by, yes, you guessed it...the religion of peace. Can anyone please explain it? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/03/pakistan-sri-lankan-man-priyantha-diyawadana-tortured-killed-alleged-blasphemy-sialkot?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

Seems fairly standard stuff for Pakistan
They are one of the more backward muslim countries so nothing surprising

Please can you give an example of a 'forward' muslim country, stickybottle? Genuinely intrigued...
Come to think of it

No I cannot

My wife worked for a number of years as an educational consultant in the UAE, and the sheik was very keen for British educational practices to be instilled into Arab schools there.

She found the culture to be mainly traditional in many ways, but Wesernising at a rapid rate under the Sheik's vision for the country to become a world business capital.

To our western attitudes, of course not.

To an extreme and radical Muslim culture, yes it is.
blah blah blah islamophobia blah blah blah
If Pakistan just a country of fundamentalist Mohammed loving nutjobs what was that one doing taking the posters down in the first place?
Blah blah blah is your usual material roy but who mentioned islamophobia on this thread. We all agree these are backward thinking zealots dont we

By definition, extemists are a minority, so there is no reason to assume that every single member of the population would react in such an extreme fashion.

If as appears, the victim is not a Pakistan national, he was perhaps unaware of the strictness of observations of Islamic law, and the reaxtion likely to be caused by his action.

Clearly if he had been aware, he would not have acted as he did.
and there are how many pakistani's in the uk or descended from.
and how many would do the same here, backward culture literally
and many of the same mindset live in the uk, media here walk on rice paper as do councils...think of that teacher a few months back, and the one in france who lost his head, and the nun and priest..list is endless.
Yes, all is fault...what a dumbo!

Not quite the tone of the OP that view.

Where on the thread has anyone suggested that the responsibility for this horrendous murder was the fault of the victim?

No, it's not, but the psychology of mob behaviour means that a group of people who would not act that way individually, can become taken over by the mob mentality when it flares up.

Albeit not to anything like such an extreme thank heavens, but football hooligans and political protesters have been subject to mob violence many times.
Archibaldy, they were taken down because the place was being renovated. It’s in the link.

If, after working there for 7 years, the victim was unaware of the mentality he was surrounded by, it demonstrates the gullibility of the naive.

Maybe he wanted the poster for his bedroom wall.

____________
The police don't yet know how he acted.

//The police assistant commissioner Mohammed Murtaza said: “Due to the renovation of the factory building, some posters were taken off from the wall. They may have desecrated posters bearing the name of Prophet Muhammad. Maybe the manager was lynched because of that.”//

Yes, this man was just unlucky to come across a whole factory full of extremists.

I've heard they are a backwards country but surely it's not the the first time something has been renovated and 'art' has to be taken down. Can't believe this happens every time must be something more to it.
