As he was recognisably a Postie, it was likely the damage to Royal Mail's reputation that was the misconduct. In Royal Mail's 2019 "Our Business Standards An Employee's Guide" it states, "Behaviour Behaviour which damages service to customers, our reputation or efficiency is unacceptable"

Those who set about beating the hell out of a person and leave them lying in the road better make sure they don't have their uniform on.

I do thank goodness for those who help strangers, choux, and I'd do it myself. I just don't think employers should be sacking those who don't (except for emergency services).
I am a Postie's daughter and this story made me want to scream when I read it months ago, and now I'm almost speechless - which is a real rarity.
Could have covered her in warm rubber bands if he was anything like our postman. ( £2.80 for 6 in W H Smith or something equally mad)
jno
could well be, gness, but if I found anyone I knew had been sacked for not being helpful to a stranger, I'd say the same thing.

There's not being helpful and there's being a complete ***. Surely you can see the difference?
want to specify what the difference was in this case, roy? It's not like he kicked her for good measure. He just refused to help.
Be fair now. We have to accept that people have different cultures.
it was, you'll notice, the fault of the Covid jab that she fell over in the first place.

No.
If you can't see the difference there's no point.
Obviously jno was never taught the parable of the Good Samaritan. It shows. Never forget your Sunday School lessons.

Save your breath, roy :)

Of course he may have been dismissed to save him from assault by the decent folk in Falkirk.
'Knackered' postman, 51, who was filmed leaving frail pensioner, 72, lying in the snow after she slipped on ice is sacked by Royal Mail
Postal worker Thomas McCafferty caught on CCTV refusing to help pensioner
Grandmother-of-two Patricia Stewart, 72, fell over in front of him outside home
...
Postman, 32, was suspended at the time but has now been sacked by Royal Mail
Jno. They were right to sack him. Posties have to be trusted. If he worked for me I'd wonder what else he was too knackered to do ....and sack him.
^ so was he 32 or 51??
Whatever he should be ashamed of hisself

Dorian Gray in a postie's uniform. Who would have believed it, bobb?

Thank you, TCL.
Years ago, a fat woman and her skinny husband were walking home from the pub in Blaenavon. She fell over in the snow and couldn't get up. Her husband couldn't lift her so went home 'to put some fire in a bucket' and bring it out to her.
Anyway, she froze to death. I think the husband was cleared of blame although he fell asleep when he got in (before or after taking her a 'bucket of fire')
Strange days, strange place. I hear it's all gentrified up there now.
How ridiculous it is that anyone should want to be an apologist for this scumbags (lack of) actions.
you can't say what the difference is either, eh roy?

tomus, I haven't apologised for them (though I have wondered where legal responsibility lies), I've said I don't think people should be sacked for being indifferent to strangers, even if it gets the Mail frothing at the mouth.
