I don't see how it's anyone's "human right" to purport to be something they are not. There is no such thing as gender neutrality - it is an entirely imagined concept.
It's a setback for those campaigning for the option of a third tick box 'X' or whatever.

Catch up with those Countries that already allow such an option.

I do apologise if I was unclear.
The census question on gender was voluntary, don't see why it can't be voluntary on a passport. Rather than worrying about the answer just don't ask the question.
He says some countries would arrest you at the gate, so how does that equate to allowing said countries to define our citizens? We do that when we issue a Passport. I don't understand your point.
LadyCG 14:13, there's your BA right there.
mamy: "Catch up with those Countries that already allow such an option." - well that's only if you consider this to be progress, I do not.
why do the people that bring these cases always look like total weirdos?
TTT - because ymb is suggesting that even if Britain has an arrangement with country X to allow British citizens entry, a Briton could be turned back at the gate - meaning they don't accept them as a British citizen, even if Britain does. And that if a British passport adheres to country X's gender norms, this would solve the problem.

ymb could be right, though as mentioned in another post, his line of argument doesn't seem to have bothered Australia or numerous other countries.
jno: "TTT - because ymb is suggesting that even if Britain has an arrangement with country X to allow British citizens entry, a Briton could be turned back at the gate - meaning they don't accept them as a British citizen, even if Britain does" - well that's a leap of illogic. Many countries have many rules it does not mean they do not accept the person as a citizen from whence they came, it means they have not fulfilled their entry requirements.

this would not be because the would-be entrant is an international crimelord, it would be because they don't accept the official document that demonstrates his citizenship
// However, look at her photograph and understand the confusion the passport control operator would have... //

particularly if she looks like Brian Blessed?
Why do some people get in a froth about other people who feel they are neither male nor female? What harm does that do? Why the fear or dislike of the other?
Why would Voldemort need a passport?
Christie Elan-Cane is on Twitter if Tora and Togo can mange to crawl out of the bargain basement of comic cuts and engage in sensible intelligent discussion.
Young, Pakistan already issues gender neutral passports.
I'm sure that 'problem' countries could add a clause or status adjustment to visas.

Maybe something like 'abomination' as a third option to give that wild-eyed official with the dodgy personal hygeine their chance to glower menacingly and with disapproval.

My question would be why would folk want to visit these places?
Maybe they should change the terminology to "Medical gender", then there's no confusion with how they identify.
Why does our sex have to be specified at all? Instead of worrying about a possible ‘third’ or ‘non-binary’ gender, just get rid of the category altogether.
quite so, Cloverjo, if Australians can manage without sex Brits should be able to.
