Everybody and every business has an absolute duty to minimise their tax liabilities. So long as their strategies are not illegal they have every right (and I would say a responsibility) to keep as much of their own money as possible to themselves. Quite why anybody should be criticised for doing so is quite beyond me. I shelter as much of my income as I can from the Exchequer. It won't be quite as much as Lewis manages, but I make sure I pay not a penny more in tax than I must. If I had the opportunity to shift some of my income abroad to minimise my tax I would not hesitate to do so. I can spend my money far more wisely than any government can and if they don't have enough to squander they must alter the tax regime (and put their proposals before Parliament).

You are saying that keeping your money to yourself is a duty. Would you then make donations to charitable organisations a morally or socially reprehensible activity? I doubt if you would; and I doubt you will accept my interpretation of what you have said.

Have to say I agree New Judge
Given that Sir Lewis spends no more than 2 months in any one country out of 12 every year it is difficult to see where he really ought to pay tax !?
He travels the globe as part of his job
Not really his fault that the nature of the F1 circus means he would spend minimal time in the UK anyway
Or any other country for that matter
