Anybody in hospital with Covid has to be kept away from people who don't have Covid, no matter whether or not it was Covid that put them in hospital. This fact stretches resources. Likewise flu or Ebola, but Covid is a bit more common at present. You can't work in a job that puts you in contact with vulnerable people if you have Covid. Like, cutting injured people...

A//// superspreader is good, if it does little damage. Immunises people, and the more that catch it, the less it needs to mutate./////
I am also confused as I thought it was the opposite.
The more the virus spreads, the greater chance of mutation either to a less dangerous strain or a more dangerous one.
Yes, it would be counter productive to kill its host, but in doing so the host would be off work, then in hospital , the in ITU and then dead. That takes time , damages the economy and puts a strain on health resources.
I may well be wrong in criticizing your evaluation and interpretation.

I may well be wrong too, sqad. As far as I have seen... viruses and bacteria mutate most, when they are in danger. Which is why bacteria has immunised itself against antibiotics being wrongly used.
The most evolved, longterm, successful viruses (like colds) have survived, by not killing their hosts, but being free to reproduce.
At some point, covid will either mutate the same way- or kill every host. No virus has ever done that yet. They evolve to survive.

You can't work in a job that puts you in contact with vulnerable people if you have Covid. Like, cutting injured people out of cars, or rescuing burnt people from buildings.
Despite this, I assume the Government's number crunchers have done the projections and calculated the system won't collapse, and that's why (in England at least) we are as we are.

If a person is admitted with, say, end-stage heart failure but they happen to have Covid-19, they are counted. Ordinary people have other health problems besides Covid-19. If such a person were to die in hospital with Covid-19, they become a Covid-19 statistic and falsely elevate the number of Covid-19 deaths.
