I read something about this very early on in the epidemic. Colds do vary of course, but if you're the sort of person who has has/had a lot of them you probably do have quite a broad range of defences, some of which will act a bit against Covid. I've had hundreds of colds/chest/Upper Respiratory Tract infections. Fingers crossed! :)
//... but very temporary? Colds can't even protect against other strains of it.//
yeah I thought -if it is that good there wouldnt be colds!
Anyway they looked at people wiv snarty noses and found they had less covid than those without. Well spotted. And then tied it to a lab assay ( activated or angry T cells)
The hacks then lost contact with reality and asked anxiously - "does this show natural immunity has an effect - any effect?"
er-eeerrr ( make buzzer noise)
Natural immunity is having a resistance to an infection without having seen it before. We have natural immunity to babesiosis for example. Well what's THAT? answer: an infection so rare no one has heard of it ( natural immunity see)
and so..... excitedly talking about natural immunity with colds and covid is a nonsense. - you are talking about induced immunity and cross-reaction. It is like talking about boiling a kettle without an element. or going for a walk in a wheel chair or....saying your dog is a cat.
The angry T cell assay can only be called a thrutch
An angry T cell leaks radio-active marker more than a placid T cell.
The printout looks like a covid death curve
The printout from the control cell also looks like a covid death curve.
And you hold them in your hands and say - look look at those curves, they ARE different you know !
