I understand the cut and thrust of political debate. However, given the recentish murders of two sitting MPs, and given the general stupidity of the population it behoves ALL MPs to take care with what they say about each other (including apologising if necessary)
It would help his own cause if he simply apologised.
As with all the other stuff that is besetting him now, it's his failure to deal with it quickly and honestly, allowing people to move on, which is costing him.
He doesn't believe it to be true.
He originally accused Starmer of "“spent most of his time prosecuting journalists and failing to prosecute Jimmy Savile”, something I heard him say at the time and his town was pressured and petulant.
That was plainly a personal, and unjustifiable slur.
He then clarified that by saying
"“Let’s be absolutely clear, I’m talking not about the leader of the opposition’s personal record when he was director of public prosecutions and I totally understand that he had nothing to do personally with those decisions. I was making a point about his responsibility for the organisation as a whole. I really do want to clarify that because it is important.”
Which is absolutely fair.
So therefore he should apologise for his original misleading comment. As much for his own good as anything.

Haha! Oh yes! Just imagine what would be made of that! Doubtless you'd all be saying what a thoroughly decent chap he is!

Not even the woman you are in competition with would go so far as to say that
Even his kids believe he is a Richard the 3rd
She knows what his moral code is
He won't repeat it because it was said in the heat of debate.
(it is odd that you get immunity in the Commons for some things but you can't accuse a fellow member of lying: still, them,'s the rules)
and he has since clarified, as stated above.
But what happened yesterday shows the danger of rehashing popular misconceptions around.
So while I only hold the morons responsible for that, Johnson really should do the decent thing.

Starmer has already apologised (because he is a descent a man) for the failings of his office at the time. Johnson’s slanderous attack was personal and incorrect. He knew it was untrue when he said it last Wednesday, and is an indication of his desperation, that he will spout any old nonsense to survive.
Oh, I think he would agree with me, ich. That Starmer had nothing 'personally' to do with decisions is a bit like saying Boris had nothing personally to do with all those in-office parties that he's subsequently become responsible for....
Funny how the buck stops with the boss - but only if that boss is Boris.
