"History is the study of change over time, and it covers all aspects of human society. Political, social, economic, scientific, technological, medical, cultural, intellectual, religious and military developments are all part of history."
N.B. critical word is "change"- OK?
Good grief, if we all made such an effort to drag up the past continually as it suits us there would be no hope for mankind.
Let it go, for goodness sake.
Contemporaneously - really? :D19:51 Thu 24th Mar 2022

//YMB, that’s the impression I got. Perhaps SP would rather we ignore Ukraine on principle.//
What are you talking about - ignore the Ukrainian???
The point of this thread is to highlight the hypocrisy evident in the attitude to Russian's trying to annex the Ukraine because you can compare it to what the English have done to Ireland.
Ignore the Ukrainians?
Are you sober?

Also - you may notice that the News thread isn’t so much a source for getting answers to questions as much as a leaping off point for discussions based around news topics.
cf.
“Where can I find information about the size of the Russian army?”
That’s an unarguable question.
“What can the West do to help the Ukraine?”
That’s a question that would spark a debate.
“Perhaps SP would rather we ignore Ukraine on principle” is a foolish inference.

SP. I’ve not mentioned ‘Ukrainians’, I’ve asked what we should do about our perceived hypocrisy, and I’m always sober. I’ve agreed with you and now you’re floundering and so resort to insults as usual.
Gness, I haven’t mentioned refugees and the only person I’ve agreed with here is YMB when he said ‘England bad’. Your imagination is getting the better of you again.
