Does no one within our government read Private Eye?

If Sunak did, he would have known about his wife’s tax arrangements for a very long time – along with all Private Eye readers.

Gromit, //She has made a grovelling apology,//

That's a lie. She hasn't. She has no need to apologise. She's done nothing wrong.

//As a non-domiciled (non-dom) UK resident she is not required by law to pay UK taxes on her overseas income.

But she told the BBC she did not want to be a "distraction" for her husband.//

Rather than capitulate to spiteful people - which is what these critics are - she should have stood her ground.
Mrs Sunak said
// she realised many people felt her tax arrangements were not “compatible with my husband’s job as chancellor”, adding that she appreciated the “British sense of fairness”.

She will pay tax on all worldwide income in future and for the last tax year. //

Sounds very much like any apology and U-turn to me.
You hear what you want to hear, Gromit. Read it again.
Has Sunak not heard the old saying - "If you're in a hole, stop digging!"
Getting a bit shrill this morning but not changing anything.
Nothing really ever changes and I doubt it ever will. Its human nature I'm afraid to feather ones nest should the opportunity arise.

Like NJ states regarding local authorities. They pay some of the highest salaries in the country, why? because they believe they have a bottomless purse.

Chief executives salaries run into the hundreds of thousands, eye watering amounts. Come down the ladder a little and still eye watering amounts are paid to staff.

To secure employment at your local authority/ council house is a case of ,not what you know, its who you know., and that's been the situation for a very long time.
He will be gone. If not today then by the end of the week. I guess No10 will have their wish.

Having said that he really has made a few faux pars recently. Putting up taxes to the highest level since the war and wearing £350 trainers is just plain stupid. Now I dont have a problem with him owning the trainers or anything else and I'm not advocating he does a Cummings and looks like he got dressed in a skip but there is a thing like the wrong time and the wrong place that he seems to miss continually.

I would expect to see them in the USA shortly. No tax at all for the UK then.
//Infosys pays UK taxes, so why shouldn’t Mrs Sunak ?//

Are you really that financially ignorant?
She is married to a high ranking British Government Minister. She has two school age children and owns property here. Of course she is domicile here. She says at some time in the future when her parents are very old and need her care, that she intends to go to India to look after them. It is all just a scam.

Apparently an inquiry has already begun.

Perhaps I should send them a few back issues of Private Eye to assist in the inquiry.
And from that link to your favourite rag is this pertinent sentence.

Debunks yet more of your twaddle

//Usually their domicile will be the country that their father considered their permanent home when they were born, and to which they intend to eventually return, perhaps when they retire.//
