////Yes I quite agree with you, it is a common disorder from which we all suffer at some time in our lives. Being an M.P is not an immunisation against this problem///
You have addressed all my concerns eloquantly except the one I posed in my post, the one highlighted above.
Do you require all MP,s to have an inbred, congenital, hereditary or conditioned immume response to human weaknesses?

pat - // Far too much about this in the media. And far too much judgement from the self righteous. If he were my husband he would be forgiven by my but the media wouldn't. //
Pat, once again I have to repeat my reason for taking this issue seriously - it is not what he did, it is where and when he did it.
If he wants to look at pornography in the privacy of his own home, or even his own Commons office, who is to know, privacy is everyone's right.
But if he is going to do it in the House, where he can be seen by other Members, and TV cameras, then that is a catastrophic absence of judgement, and that is unacceptable for an MP.
// I'm still with Sqad on this. And whether seats are tiered or not I wouldn't be looking at other people's phones. //
I'm not suggesting that MP' should, or do, spend their times looking over each other's shoulders at each other's phone screens.
But you cannot 'un-see' something like that, even if you glanced at it in passing, rather than specifically looking, and that is why it is unacceptable for anyone to look at pornography on a phone anywhere at all where anyone else might see it.

Not at all.
But I do expect them, by virtue of the fact that they are perceived as intelligent and mature enough to serve voters as their representatives in Parliament, to have the common sense to understand that looking at pornography at work, or where anyone else may see it, is unacceptable behaviour.
And that does not refer only to MP's, it refers to any man or woman anywhere at all at any time, where what they are watching may possibly be seen by anyone else whatsoever.
If a man cannot resist the urge to look at pornography in his workplace, then he is demonstrating an inability to think and behave like a mature civilised human being, and that exempts him from being an MP.

Prudie - // OMG Andy you think this was so heinous that he's not fit to walk a dog round the block??? This from someone who is always picking ABers up for wanting a tougher punishment than a crime deserves because of what you perceive as exaggerated over emotional thinking. //
There is no link whatsoever between my view on punishment, and the actions of a patently unsuitable MP.
The man has no judgement, so awareness of his position or his surroundings, and that makes him unfit to be an MP, or to work anywhere where he interacts with other people.

SparklyKid - // Who reported him. Rather childish. Bit like those who post here. "Please mods, there are scammers in home and garden" //
It appears to be a day for nonsensical comparisons.
What on earth does an MP being called out for watching pornography in the House have to do with reporting spam on the Answerbank?

Sqad - // O.K Andy that is quite clear.
Experience has taight me that what you are seeking is a "big ask." //
Is it? Really?
I have been able to access pornography on phones and computers as long as they have been available, and to date i have managed to do so without feeling the uncontrollable urge to do so in the workplace, or where anyone else may see me do so.
i think you'll find that the majority of men manage to do the same, with no noticeable strain on their well being.
You just have to be a mature adult, it's not difficult.

Prudie - // Andy you've completely sidestepped what I said - understandably. It wasn't about him being unfit to be an MP, you said he was unfit to even walk a dog. //
If I knew someone was capable of such an utter inability to think and judge his surroundings to that degree, then I would not trust him with the task of looking after a dog in public.

Sqad - // LOl.......well said Andy.
I have clearly been an immature adult for the better part of my life, but still performed an important function in society.
I have rather enjoyed being "immature" and still do. //
I appreciate your humour.
You and I both know perfectly well that you neither achieved, or maintained your professional position by behaving with such a lack of awareness and judgement as our subject here.
You may enjoy being 'immature', but I would be happy to take any wager you offer, that you have never accessed pornography in your workplace in a crowded space, where you could be seen easily by anyone else.
