Forget all the hysterical politicking over trivia. This is when a great world leader earns his keep. It's the big occasions that the best leaders show what they are made of. TGL and TGM would be proud of our PM for his performance during the Ukraine crisis.

It seems there are a few people here who don’t understand that this war is our problem. It’s Europe’s problem - and it’s the world’s problem. Thank God they weren’t around in 1939. I dread to think where this country would be now.

Tell that to those who are on the bones of their ass thanks to his lefty green policies.

He is supposed to be looking after this country too.

YMB: I do have a certain amount of sympathy for your views on the energy situation and no doubt Carrie Antoinette does have an effect on the PM but this Ukraine situation is the most serious subject in the world right now and he'd playing a blinder in my opinion.
Yes it was. And that’s what he’s good at.

I watched a Ukrainian TV version: the Speaker (who looks a bit like a nightclub bouncer) could be seen applauding at intervals as did other members.
I think that pensioners being unable to heat their homes and families unable to scrape together the extra money needed just to LIVE in this country at the moment due to continual rising prices are far more important !! He is our PM, not Ukraine's !! Why we always have to get involved in everybody else's problems is beyond me. By all means donate to Ukraine and take their people in if we can, BUT why do we have to do more ?? I read on Mail Online today about Elsie who travels around on buses all day to keep warm because she can't afford to heat her flat, what sort of life is that for an elderly lady ?? What does Boris say - that it's thanks to him that she can travel around on buses all day because he brought that in !! Give some of the millions you are giving to Ukraine (and enraging mad Putin further) to OUR elderly, and struggling families Boris - they come first ......
In all honesty I think the post at 14.48 is shameful.

But there you go

Spot on naomi @15.02

As someone said:
If you’ve ever wondered what you’d have done about Hitler, well you’re doing it now (one way or another)
Boris Johnsons actions on the world stage show how good a statesman he is. I hope the stupid partygate accusations are shown up for what they are - a waste of space.

bang on william, hopefully now as Rodders is implicated they shut up about it and move on.
For anyone that missed it, Boris said:-

‘This is Ukraine's finest hour – to save my ass.’

I suspect that if Boris can hang on to his position as PM, he’ll be back in Ukraine to make further similar statements, purely in the interests of saving his own job.
Well said Hymie.
Maybe Mr Zelensky can now spare our leader for a few days so he can deal with matters domestic, like changing his position on BP and others' obscene profits and the lack of windfall tax.
How do you know that it's in the interests of saving his job?

Anyway, his job is in OUR hands. And more immediately the hands of his MPs. If we don't like it we and or they can do something about it.
Same goes for president Zelensky, Prime minister Shmyhal and co in Ukraine.
If Russia gets its way that'll change.
And Johnson is plainly failing to impress you (and as I said earlier it wouls not change the way I vote either) so why worry?
You are presumably assuming that the lesser educated sorts amongst us will fall for his "tricks" :-)
That seems to be it anyway.

Accusations? I think you’ll find they’re substantiated facts, for which he’s received sanction.
There are more to come no doubt.
A world statesman would be leading the Western world from the front. He is doing nothing of the sort, the Western world is fractured and NATO looks toothless. They can’t even agree to implement a no fly zone.
Take a look at the high regard in which he is held as a world leader.

That's a bit silly: that was an EU meeting, but the genius of Putin is that he's managed to unite NATO, not to mention the EU with the exception of Putin's close ally Hungary.
In the next day or so Sweden and Finland will announce their intention of joining NATO (don't tell the poor old Pope).

As for the no-fly zone, NATO decided, rightly in my view, that it was not a wise or even enforceable action. It wasn't a question of not being able to decide.
An EU meeting at the height of the Brexit debacle, but like I say, Putin has made most of us forget those comparatively trivial differences.

Are you alluding to the idiot known as Nadine Dorries?
https://www.newstatesman.com/quickfire/2022/05/keir-starmer-is-my-political-opponent-but-i-cant-support-nadine-dorriess-attacks
The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport not only copies and pasted a tweet about misogyny from her boss but is now looking even more foolish for her latest masterstroke.
Not sure who Rodders is though, unless Johnson and Dorries are a double act similar to Del Boy and Rodney?
The speaker of the ukrainian parliament
is here

and does look like a bouncer
