The country is just emerging from a global pandemic and having been a world leader in the race for vaccines and rollouts, and having propped up businesses and those who couldn't work quite admirably, the government is now dealing with the expected result. Furthermore, Ukraine is under attack and the stability of Europe is threatened by a madman, France is taking the pee, and plans are therefore afoot to deal differently with arriving illegals, and any government in this day and age is going to champion the quest to defeat global warming so you’re whistling in the wind if you want that to stop. Apart from borrowing Jeremy Corbyn's wonky magic wand that he took with him when he was so unceremoniously booted out, and giving that a wave, I really don’t know what you expect. With the left finding anything and everything to criticise the government for and putting the boot in at every opportunity, surely if anyone needs to learn lessons it's the abysmal offering that is Labour. I imagine they're very disappointed indeed this morning. And they had such high hopes too - which demonstrates just how pathetically ineffectual and out of touch they really are. Ah well ... that’s that done. Onwards.
