Hits the highest for 40 years as housholds suffer .
Even higher than the 1990s recession .
Caused by the combination of Brexit and this Tory Govt,,,, as expected,
No doubt Boris and his Cronies will shift the blame onto Putin

// The mps could no doubt see the squeeze coming ,
so they very quickly gave themselves a payrise. //

for your information, gulliver, it's not within the power of mps of any party to give or award themselves anything. that power rests with the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority who, as the name suggests, are independent of government, and indeed of parliament https://www.theipsa.org.uk/

bear in mind also that the rise was the first increase in pay for MPs in two years and, followed the average (2.7%) of increases across the public sector last year.

IPSA were set up by the Parliamentary Standards Act, which followed the 2009 MPs Expenses Scandal. Do you need reminding, Gulliver, who was in power at that time? Do you also need reminding, Gulliver who it was who tabled a motion which would have exempted MPs' expenses from being disclosed under a Freedom of Information request, in order to prevent disclosure of information in that scandal?
Yes ,for once you are right Gully. Putin is to blame for a lot of the rising prices of literally tons of foodstuffs especially those containing wheat, corn and sunflower oil. Don't forget the iron and steel ,coal, fuel and petroleum products we also buy from Ukraine. The fields in Ukraine have been flattened by tanks and soldiers and manufacturing factories bombed and destroyed. Even if the Ukrainians could work ,the output would be minimal. Furthermore they can't export things out of the country because Russia is blocking the Port of Odesa. I don't think that ,before the war, any of us realised just how much we imported from the Ukraine. So whilst we are not solely dependent on their goods the UK is definitely suffering higher prices because of the scarcity of their products.
Andres where has gulliver said that this is down to Putin. He says it is down to Boris and the Tories as it always is with him. I'm not saying some of it isn't but he always blames Boris for everything. He will not answer questions though even when he starts the threads, which in my opinion is the height of rudeness.
[email protected] my first sentence but leave the rest.
I fail to see why gully is allowed free rein here. Anyone else would have their posts deleted or be suspended/banned.
to theshedman - where does Gulliver live if he isn't in the UK? - the answer to that is Fairyland where there is negative inflation, food, drugs and drink abound and everything including politics is nice and red or rosy. And there's no police as there's no crime. There's no God either, just a satan in the form of a Beary-Boris and everybody is invited to throw eggs and flour at him or his predecessors.
DTCwordfan, when he first came on here he mentioned that he lived in Spain but not sure of that from the way he posts as you say. I know we have a high inflation and price rises but just wanted to know if it was the same for him but as usual he refuses to answer. As it is so idyllic where he lives I fail to see why he would want to spend so much time talking about something and somewhere he obviously finds so depressing. I think your answer maybe very close to the mark.
interesting, 29 "answers" so far, only two of which are actually answers, the rest the usual ad hominem drivel.
No answer from the one who started the thread though jno which is what most of the other drivel as you call it is about. Would it hurt gulliver to actually post a thread then answer a question about it. When someone does give a sensible answer which some are he still carries on about the same thing without giving any evidence or something to back up his rants.
I can see nine posts from gulliver on this thread. However, since most of the other answers aren't answers at all, I can't see he has any obligation to respond to them.
Jno, Gulliver can’t respond. He’s not capable.

Gulliver, once again your OP is abject twaddle.
Inflation was 24% in 1975, under Labour, no pandemic, no global events (war), they managed it all by themselves.
jno the very first answer by me asked about inflation where he lives but no answer from him so how can you say what you have. He moans about this country but will not answer what it is like where he lives.

Anyone living in the UK Noticed the cost of living slowly rising since Brexit . And the last few months accelerating and now a mighty Car crash .
Should have ignored the slogan made up by Dominic Cummings "Lets get Brexit Done " just to get Boris in Power. You lot were certainly done with Brexit.
