My granddaughter has a Ukranian/Russian friend who has been reduced to tears by her grandmother in Russia comprehensively denying and pooh-poohing everything the girl or her parents have tried to explain to her.
The boarding dept. of the school this friend attends is full of Russian and Chinese pupils - all the Russian ones we have heard of are getting the same sort of reaction.

It must have been easier to convince people then though, DTC. A crackly radio, newsreels and snail mail were about the only forms of communication. In this day and age with the internet and people of all nationalities, including Russians, living all over the world, how can reality possibly be withheld from them?
