Starmer is yet to be accused of or investigated for lying to parliament. Imagine if there was a Gray-style report into his behaviour, only for him to interfere and interject with it a week or so before publication? He’d look as a guilty as, well, I’m sure even you can work out how it would look.
Starmer has pretty much done everything above board in regards to scrutiny by the press and I’m sure that many will press for Durham Constabulary to break precedent over their retrospective fines.
If they do, he’ll resign and it’ll be a non-story, just apply more pressure on the PM.
