Girl, 14, with nut allergy nearly died on flight after man ate peanuts
Was he in the wrong?
Is it survival of the fittest or should her parents not put her at risk by sticking her in a tin capsule?

I've given this more thought and put the blame entirely on the parents. Yes, the man was a selfish buffoon but the parents were irresponsibl e knowingly putting their daughter in danger taking an unnecessary flight. They could have been seated next to a family who had stuffed themselves full of peanut butter sandwiches and peanut ice-cream whilst waiting...

And just to throw my 2p in, the idea that a person with a medical condition should not travel abroad in case someone else puts them in danger is classic ableism. Heaven forbid someone is mildly inconvenienced in order to prevent another human from having a traumatic medical emergency. Of course, this has been many people's attitude to wearing masks to protect others during covid, so it's really just more of the same.

Thank you, Ed, good word.
ableism - discrimination in favour of able-bodied people. Ableism is discrimination and social prejudice against people with disabilities and/or people who are perceived to be disabled. Ableism characterises people as defined by their disabilities and inferior to the non-disabled.

Virtue signalling will only take you so far. It's sad that some people have handicaps and allergies and it's nice if nice people put themselves out a bit to accommodate them.
But there are limits and, anyway, not everyone's nice.
So people or their parents have to take responsibility for themselves ultimately.
Glad the ED mentioned Covid.
All these entitled people demanding other people lock down, wear masks, get jabbed. If you think all that bunkum worked* do it all to yourself and you'll be safe as houses.

> So ellipsis everyone who has no experience of a child with a severe allergy has led a charmed life.
Did I say that? No. I said "I think perhaps New Judge is either quite young or has led a bit of a charmed life, where neither he nor anybody he cares for has had any problems that would give him an ounce of sympathy for what others have to go through."
I don't have experience of travelling with people with severe allergies (although my wife does). I do have lots of experience of travelling with people with other severe disabilities that have to be "accommodated" by the able-bodied and supposedly able-minded, sometimes very unwillingly accommodated. And that experience gives me the ounce of sympathy I was referring to.

empathy is dead - you have to do it to them in order for them to know what it is like
yeah foo ! for a minister to know what it is like to have a kid run over, you have to go around to his house and run over the little blighter -
not badly of course
Ewan Blair ( drunk on a pavement) is now worth £50m

Old_Geezer //Whether the law allows one to kill by peanut or not, the snacker had a duty to cease and the fact they selfishly disregarded that ought to trigger some legal reaction; and if it presently doesn't that should be changed. Lord knows it took long enough to deal with smoking; how long will it take to civilise on this issue ?//
Well said. When the dust of someone's snack spreads so easily then they shouldn't be inflicting it on others in a confined space.
