Düring Brexit negotiations Boris Johnson promised to abide by the Good Friday Agreement but as usual. This promise was soon forgotten. How can the Problems in Connection with trade between N. Ireland and UK be solved to satisfaction of UK, EU and N. Ireland?

And how was the Belfast Agreement forgotten ? Indeed the latest unilateral action is to support it in the face of EU and Remoaner attempts to harm it by allowing the damaging EU activity to continue with it's detrimental effects.

As for reading the agreement one is signing, that should be directed at the EU who, apparently, had no idea change was specifically allowed for in certain circumstances. Boris clearly saw there was an agreement that the EU was willing to sign and despite the obviously damaging bits, it had the right written into it to be change when the issues became obvious to the fools who actually wanted it. Bully for Boris. Raspberries to his critics.
Dave/Togo, the purpose of the suggested lanes is to stop that petty silliness. Unfortunately it won’t stop the boats from France though.
Yeah Gromit, but being out of the single market and being separate from the EU is a vital part of Brexit, so contemplating a remainer's dream and ruining Brexit is a non-starter.
Quite right, OG.
Green = not at risk
Red = at risk of travel beyond NI/GB
No different
So why are you having trouble getting the things you need, RH? And if this is no different, why the need for negotiation? That doesn’t make sense.
the risk is tiny the amounts of goods are tiny, this is just the EUSSR trying to punish us for leaving their club. We should just ignore them. If they want to build a border let them try and force their poodle to build one.
Good to see you have as high a regard for Eire as you have for Scotland.
You might be surprised to know that in N Ireland itself, a majority of voters and political representatives support the protocol. And for many businesses it’s the best thing since sliced Ormo bread :-)
Of course for others it’s a bureaucratic nightmare: the government claims the EU was been inflexible, but actually it’s the British govt that’s refused to negotiate at all since Feb.
While the stuff about red and Green channels makes perfect sense there’s much, much more to the government’s proposals and it’s not hard to see why the EU is outraged. This simply is not the way to conduct relations with our nearest trading partners although the prospect of a trade war seems distant.
Even allowing for the desire to get the DUO back into Stormont - as I said earlier, more political expediency than anything
Because at risk not at risk has different duty rates/paper work and customs control.
But the issue is how do you guarantee that something won’t be delivered to NI and not then moved on to Eire?
You can’t so it’s at risk
I’m sorry it doesn’t make sense Naomi, perhaps read gov.U.K. On import goods to NI and see if that helps.
Is there such a thing as a half-arsed fudge in global politics?
RH, there’s no point in me reading current regulations if the new proposal is meant to stop all the nonsense paperwork and bureaucracy - which it is. That’s precisely what this is meant to change. Do you not see that?

Ich, why is the EU ‘outraged’ this time? Where we’re concerned they’re always seem ‘outraged’ about something. Missing us I expect. :o)
//But the issue is how do you guarantee that something won’t be delivered to NI and not then moved on to Eire?//

Why would it be moved to Eire?
Oh Naomi I understand perfectly well.
Because the duty rates paid by importers are different if you import direct to Eire than if you import into NI
Like the old song says 'It all makes work for the working man to do'.
I give up ….
“ Ich, why is the EU ‘outraged’ this time”

Because the UK appears to be reneging on an international treaty.
And I have to say at the moment most independent legal experts appear to agree
//Because the duty rates paid by importers are different if you import direct to Eire than if you import into NI//

What are the differences?
Ich, oh ok. I thought you meant there was something they were outraged about.
