Not my ideal choice. Sunak may be the one for the MPs but the party faithful won't got for him. I know where my vote is going.

He is a creepy, snake in the grass, who sat next to Boris at a cabinet meeting as though all things were quite normal & the following day suddenly produced the absurd biographical CV of himself replete with photos of himself from childhood onwards, as a pitch to replace Boris.
I wouldn't have chosen either of these two to be leaders of the Conservative party, but given no other choice, it has to be Liz Truss.

it was in response to william at 16:08, essentially every poll in the party has Sunak losing to any of the other candidates. I am in the party and the jungle drums are clear, if you are a betting person get your money on Truss. Now it's possible that she does something stupid before the voting slips are sent out or he does something good but currently, to use the horse racing vernacular, Truss wins 10 minutes.

//Same old same old.A bribe to reduce tax forget them.At least Sunak is telling the truth.//
No, there are different economic strategies. Very simply the two being advocated here are tax high and pay of debts which has a tendency to suppress the economy and the other is to reduce taxes, encourage spending and keep the economy buoyant.
There are other schools of thought, perhaps go and have a look at how economies work?

Sort of sums it up from the BBC coverage of front pages.
The Daily Mirror's Kevin Maguire says the contest is "made in heaven" for Labour. He describes Ms Truss as "a vacuous chancer who would be out of her depth in a puddle" and Mr Sunak as "the moneybags chancellor who hiked taxes to 1940s levels, while his family avoided their fair share".
Utterly dire.

//naomi: "Thanks TTT. It matters not who wins really. The ultimate result will be the same. " - yep whoever wins wipes the floor with Sir Beer Korma at the next election!//
You live in fantasy land. The best candidates were ditched.
From the BBC again.
According to the i newspaper, there is a great deal of anger among Conservative Party members that Penny Mordaunt didn't make it into the final two. The paper says it has spoken to a number Conservative association chairmen in England and Wales and many of them feel the party's chances of winning the next election will be damaged with either Ms Truss or Mr Sunak at the helm.
It’s obvious the public will see them as Johnson clones and there’ll be a hung parliament at the GE, even seasoned Tories and political commentators agree on that.
