So incredibly sad that a life has been lost due to some stupid challenge on social media. I can't say, hand on heart, that I wouldn't have done the same as his mother, as a parent you fight for your children's lives. I hope she can eventually find some peace.
My head agrees that it’s time to accept the inevitable but my heart is with the family who cannot give up hope of him making a miraculous recovery.
Their son had a tragic accident trying to see how long he could hold his breath. It’s impossible for us to expect his parents to be anything but determined to bring him back to life.
My head wants to do one thing; my heart another. I do feel for this family. Whatever the outcome the road forwards will largely be paved with pain.
I do not know what I would do. I could not possibly say. I do hope that those parents, in years to come, when the pain may have dulled slightly, may take some solace from the thought that they did everything they could.
I also know that this case will leave an indelible mark on anyone who has been involved in it (aside from the family for whom this is indescribable). No one will come out of it feeling anything other than extreme sadness.
As everyone has said, this is just so sad and all for some stupid online challenge. It was reported on the news last night that his organs have now begun to shut down so they won't be any use for transplant.
The only thing I can say, is: Archie, you have the best parents you could ever wish for, they will leave no stone unturned, and we are praying for you all. (No comments needed from those who don't believe, thanks).
because 3 different countries have offered their medical services that they think may be able to help Archie, but the parents aren't allowed to move him.
Sciencenoob. When it's your child...your baby... that is all you think about.
You don't think at all about being fair to medical staff or thinking about their feelings. I've been there and the child and what you want for that child, rightly or wrongly, is the only thing you think about.
Because, according to the medics, he would be unlikely to survive the move. Left for another week or two, even with artificial life support, he will almost certainly die anyway. The courts have made the correct decision.
