They don't, The Winner. I recall pinning a lovely doctor, Eamonn I recollect, to the wall and insisting they continue the treatment they wanted to stop.
Too long to post here...but I battled and battled and I won. The treatment continued and it worked despite being told by doctors that it was unlikely and best to stop now.
We had some great years together after that...what with him not being dead as he would have been had I not been contrary Mary...:-)

gness -- I agree that the parents will be heartbroken and act out of grief, but it's still wrong to lash out at the Courts and the doctors who are doing their job, and to insult them so publicly. You can grieve and still respect others. Archie died months ago. They've wasted so much time being angry at everyone that they could have spent honouring his memory.
Maybe the media reporting is at fault for not challenging it enough?

No idea. As usual with all matters reported from the courts, we get one or two lines to describe the result of a hearing which, in this case, probably took some hours. The judges would have their reasons.
The parents obviously have my deepest sympathy and I can’t imagine what they’re going through. However, it seems quite clear their son will not recover. As mentioned, I did not like it one bit when they spoke of the state “murdering” their child. That did not cover them in glory, but allowances must be made for the predicament they are in.

i see they are now petitioning for him to go to a hospice, as a hospital is full of noise and fuss and they want him to die quietly at peace
1) that can happen in a hospital
2) having been present when someone died on the side of a motorway in the back of an ambulance while being transferred to a hospice, with the relatives following on in a car i wonder if the parents have considered what impact that has?
