If you don’t want Scotland as part of a United Kingdom then you can’t bandy about such accusations, can you? " - I do want Scotland as part of the UK but whether I do or not is not relevant to whether I can "bandy about" anything. In my opinion to hold an illegal referendum would be a crime against the UK but more than that a crime against the Scottish public, who have been hijacked by Nationalist extremists. The powers were given in 2014 to hold a once in a generation referendum, the answer was clear. Leave it at that.

//fatti: "Plus if you’re going to debase someone’s argument by ignoring them, their views are of no consequence to you so how is it treacherous? " - if the referendum is not legal then it would be.//
They could rephrase or reword it as a poll.
ABers ignore those all the time too to suit their own ends.
If the Tories don’t want Scotland as part of the UK then having a referendum ought to make no difference to them anyway, should it?
It’ll only reaffirm their(Tories) stance, won’t it?
What is it they’re scared of I wonder?

//On the other hand at least we get a flavour of the giants who wander the corridors of power and look to control our lives leaving us in little doubt as to their suitability for high office.//
If you're unaware of their suitability now that they've reached the penalty shoot-out, you've not been paying attention, duggie. Whether or not you listen to their fantasies now makes no difference anyway because, assuming you are not a member of the Conservative Party, you've no say in the matter.

//what ever it was Hoppy it was wonderful to see TGL in action.//
In action? The Gargantuan Liar has just gone on holiday hasn’t he, to an unspecified location?
Wonder where? It’s probably not Italy, Lord Lebedev of Hampton and Siberia put that place up for sale recently.
Wonder where Johnson is using his easel this week?

fatti: "They could rephrase or reword it as a poll." - OK let them a have a poll but make it clear it's not actionable.
"If the Tories don’t want Scotland as part of the UK then having a referendum ought to make no difference to them anyway, should it?" - who says they don't want Scotland?
"It’ll only reaffirm their(Tories) stance, won’t it?
What is it they’re scared of I wonder? " - The problem is the implementation, would affect the UK too. We've had enough sheet over the NI border can you imagine what Brobdingnagian mess the Scot Border would create? Not to mention the Suffering of the people of Scotland through lack of any proper infrastructure. They never answer any questions about how things would work under an "independent" Scotland. Helen, who says I'm convinced? There is no telling what effect all the nationalist propaganda has had over the time. I hope there is still a majority of intelligent life up there but who knows what effect twice a day enforced watching of Braveheart has had? I know a fair few Scots and they say the Nationalists are just the loudest, I hope they are correct.
//So you’ll be happy to have a GE at the earliest opportunity too then?//
Why should there be a GE at the earliest opportunity? One isn’t due for more than two years.
//We've had enough sheet over the NI border can you imagine what Brobdingnagian mess the Scot Border would create?//
There is one big difference, Tora. As far as I am aware there is no “Good McFriday” agreement which guarantees no hard border between Scotland and England. It’s doubtful if the remainder of the UK (rUK) would want to see one enforced. So, assuming that Scotland became an independent member of the EU (a somewhat rash assumption IMHO) it would be for Scotland to devise and enforce. rUK should have no interest in such an arrangement. Of course this would mean that goods and people would enjoy free movement southwards but would suffer difficulty getting back. Many of the people might not bother trying.

/Why should there be a GE at the earliest opportunity? One isn’t due for more than two years./
Because 3 of the last 5 PM’s were not appointed as the result of a GE.
Wouldn’t the next one prefer such an endorsement ASAP if they’ve supposedly got this ‘mandate from the British public’?
