'Ukraine’s defence ministry said in a tongue-in-cheek statement that it "could not establish the cause of the fire but would like to once again remind about fire safety and the danger of smoking at inappropriate locations".
But in a thinly-veiled confirmation of Ukrainian involvement, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, said: "The future of the Crimean peninsula is to become a pearl of the Black Sea, a national park with unique landscapes and a global resort, not a military base for terrorists. This is just the beginning."
Meanwhile, Phillips P O’Brien, a professor of strategic studies at St Andrew’s University, said that the actions of the Ukrainians were "extremely important".
"By showing they can hit Crimea, they will further stretch Russia's defensive capabilities. The Russians are going to have to protect a huge area behind the front lines," he said.'

in view of Khandy's candid comment - it was Whorf of the Sapir Whorf theory ( yes that one of language) who was a safety engineer and showed more accidents in petrol refineries depending on the notices on the rest room walls ( really? yup)

Oddly khandro the BBC report quotes Podolyak as saying “what would Ukraine have to do with that?”
The Russians claim it was “exploding ammunition” while at the same time one of their most notorious Kremlin mouthpieces Simonyan called it a “red line” crossed. This despite the fact they claimed Ukraine already launched a drone attack in Sevastopol on Russian navy day, while releasing a short clip of the scene of the “attack” showing .. a few leaves in a courtyard and not a lot else.
The trouble with doing alternative reality is sometimes it’s easy to catch yourself out

ichi: I particularly like the Ukrainian advice, not to smoke in "
"inappropriate locations".
Peter Pedant: It says Whorf was of the post-Hegelian tradition. I once did as a part of a series of portraits in charcoal, one of Hegel:

*Ukraine says it destroyed nine Russian war planes in Crimea strikes
The Ukrainian air force has said nine Russian aircraft were destroyed in huge explosions at a military airbase in Crimea.
Sky News has been told by a senior Ukrainian official that Ukrainian Special Forces carried out the operation on the base.
One person was killed in a series of blasts close to seaside resorts on the annexed peninsula - some 200km inside Russian-held territory.
Russia has denied any aircraft were damaged in Tuesday's blasts — or that any attack took place. *

Some speculation it was this:

Around 20 aircraft taken out it seems and 6 helicopters plus lots of ammunition

and now Belarus ?.
The Belarus Ministry of Defence confirmed on Wednesday evening that one of the vehicles in the military area near Homel caught fire.
Unconfirmed reports last night said explosions had been heard in at the airfield closed to a facility largely used by Russian forces in Belarus.
Visegrad 24 reported: "Eight large explosions reported from Ziabrauka airfield near Homel in Belarus.
"Lots of Russian military gear is stationed there and the Russians often launch attack against Ukraine from Ziabrauka.
"Ukraine might have counterattacked Belarusian territory for the first time."
