It is all very well giving it to those still alive but what about those who died as a result? They, and therefore their children should also receive the same amount. The fact that they died before this belated compensation does not mean that their family should be deprived of it.

I think it is proposed that they will - but not the parents of sufferers
Have these people been unable to earn a living over the past 40 years? If not then I can understand being given great wads of cash but if they have then I'm not sure about it. I know they haven't been able to have children but I wouldn't have thought there was a price on that, no matter how much they get, they still can't have children.
I don't think it's compensation for loss of earnings per se. They have contracted other diseases with the attendant treatment regimes, emotional stress & (probably) a shortened lifespan.
