ToraToraTora //Love gulliver's forlorn hopes, I wonder how long he'll sulk after the Tories win next time, PMSL!// Not as long as you and Naomi have over Johnson getting turfed out by his own parliamentar y party.

Neither have the character or fortitude of a Thatcher to see policies through.
Like or loathe her she had a dogged determination(almost bloody-mindedness) to see matters through.
She never forgot nor denied her roots though.
The present two bear no comparison to her.
One a multi-millionaire married to a billionaire who used questionable means to dodge taxes, who enjoyed playing Risk with this country’s finances but now supposedly has all the answers, the other an adulterous Remainer and anti-monarchist flip-flopper who regards British workers as lazy.
As even Alistair Campbell said, neither would have been deemed fit to polish John Major’s shoes or carry Margaret Thatcher’s handbag.
But one will lead the Tories to another GE victory after the carnage of the last 30 months?

One thing that ensures the quality of a side in sports is the quality of the opposition. Similarly in politics, quality opposition is needed to keep the government "honest". Sadly the Tories will probably win next time despite their leader because most can see that Labour/Lib dems etc are even worse.

Care to elaborate on how or why they’re deemed ‘worse’?
In comparison to what? The current government?
I’ve a feeling the public have had enough and will probably think:
‘Things aren’t exactly fab at the moment and we’ve had 12 years of it, the last 2 being the worst.
Let’s see if someone else could give it a decent go?’
That’s generally how it works and certainly appears to be the mood at present.
Rich getting richer, poor getting poorer, time too redress the balance.

It's middle England who decide and they are very wary about the hard left section of the Labour party. Then there is the anti semite problem and of the pro union stance. They do of course have moderates but like the Tories on Europe they are hopelessly split. Sir Keir seems a moderate competent leader but he seems to spend all his time fire fighting problems among the extremist wing of the party. I also don't see many heavy weights on the Labour front bench, who will do all the big jobs if they do manage to get elected. The Lib dems discredited themselves at the last general election by suggesting that the 2016 referendum be ignored. That's how I see it and I count myself among middle England and I'm not yet ready to vote Labour/Lib dem.
Here’s a reminder. *Warning*
It does contain profanities but it’s topical.

//Why is Tobias Ellwood Tory mp warning his Party that they are heading for a long spell in opposition ?
Does he know something that even TTT Doesn't know.//
You mean ToraToraTora’s MP and former quiz partner? THAT Tobias Ellwood? I wonder if he could pass on such pearls of wisdom to his constituents, as Youngmafbog lives in the same locale too! PMSL.

//No , it's not just the pensioners, it's the people of all ages who realise that a party, (Labour) that is incapable of creating even a half decent opposition will be a total disaster as a government//
Again, in comparison to what, the present lot who have overseen disaster, parties in lockdown, unworkable and disastrous Brexit whilst lying to Parliament and public alike?
Please point out the merits and achievements of the present government because I’m really struggling to find them.
Could you assist?
