The fractious nature of the leadership challenge shows how deeply divided they are, as well as their party.
If he’s given a cabinet post(which I doubt he’d take anyway) it’ll be a source for any opposition leaders to pounce on.
Take advantage of his Green card and move to the States is my opinion.
From the way he was talking the other day I don't think he will want one. He implied that he disagrees with her policies so it will be difficult to support her in cabinet and is quite happy to be a good back-bencher and support the party that way. It also leaves him in a good position to stand again in a couple of years when the Tories see their current majority reduced and she will get the blame. Poor old Liz has inherited a poison chalice - the state of the economy etc will be blamed on the Tories by the electorate, even though it won't have been all their fault, and the majority will largely disappear.
bhg: "It also leaves him in a good position to stand again in a couple of years when the Tories see their current majority reduced and she will get the blame." - Well he has no chance if she wins so if he still has designs on the job he'll be hoping they lose.

You need to address the issues I raised in my last post on the New PM thread.
You seriously think the Tory party would elect a non-white as their leader?
I will be absolutely amazed if the Tories come out of the next GE with a large majority; I will not be surprised if they struggle to form a majority government. Electorates are very fickle and don't always make logical decisions.
I thought the press reckoned Tugendhat was going to be Foreign Secretary after his recent work in Ukraine?
Oh well, let’s wait and see.
Has Dorries been mentioned yet for anything? Tea lady?
bhg, you've been listening to the lefties wet dreams again. It'll be reduced but it'll still be a Tory majority. It's takes a huge swing to negate an 80 seat majority. Despite mid term, post crises blues. Real Labour last won in 1974, I doubt they'll ever win again.
So white people are the default colour are they, from which we must distinguish all other races? Jesus talk about ignorant! Have you ever heard a black person refer to themselves as non-white?
