Cancelling Events
When Diana's funeral was held I seem to remember that some events were cancelled - is this likely to happen with the Queen's funeral? I know some have been cancelled tonight and tomorrow (although wouldn't have though the Queen would want racing cancelled!).

Stop trolling, I had hoped that at a time like this the usual suspects would reign it in a bit.

It's a shame the proms have been cancelled, no better way to celebrate the Queen's life than in good music. I'm sure the promenaders would rein themselves in on the last night and Benjamin Britten's version of God Save the (Queen) King is beautiful. I know she would have been saddened that the children at last night's event would be upset. Prince Harry might not have felt like giving his speech but it could still have gone ahead.
I have to say I wondered and smiled when Johnson came up
The lesser the better
let him go on a long long holiday - to write a book or something
yeah yeah - working title ( that is what authors call a book in making before it is published as a best seller: " Boris exposes all!")
working title - Here lies Boris Johnson
( stolen and recycled from Vita Sackville west and Violet trefusis ( Violet tres confusee)
Can you inagine - "I had great respect for Her Majesty...." ( o get off and lie about someone else)
"whom I often likened to Agrippina....or Livia or Messalina - or theodora....."
Hack - Nick Eardley for it is he: we all had to google those ones - empresses all they were -
[They werent of course - they were all famous poisoners]
and so the carousel rolls on

Nothing should have been cancelled, imho. Everything should have gone ahead as planned 'in celebration' of the Queen's life. The National Anthem could have been played before and after all sporting events with, perhaps, a montage of the Queen's life at half time. The Proms could have been totally dedicated to HM The Queen, as Mozz and Naomi suggest.
With all these events - and more -being cancelled 'out of respect' - it's almost as if we're being forced to mourn her passing.

Fatti,
I bought the Daily Telegraph for 30 years. It was right wing but a good newspaper. But then the Barclay Brothers bought it and decided to make it into the Daily Mail II, and it became rubbish and I stopped buying it.
I find AB going down that path. 18 years ago it was fairly even politically, and was good. Now it readership has aged is predominantly right wing posters, and strangely moderated. It gets less and less enjoyable, the more rightward it leans.
It nears younger members and a more diverse range of views, but anyone like that would be instantly put off by AB as it now is.
