Not totally surprised. Some while back a cashpoint in the Asda store wall messed up. Didn't get my cash IIRC (but details vague as too long ago). Went in asking them to sort it, they weren't interested. Washed their car, er... I mean hands of it. Their wall providing money to their customers to spend in their store but, "Not our problem guv. Go talk to the bank that owns it. Our wall but we don't give a darn."

There is usually a disclaimer on drive thru car washes which says you are using it entirely at your own risk.

I disagree, OG: if I rent my garage to someone there's no special reason why I should be responsible for his malfeasances, and I'd probably have something to that effect put in the lease.

Tesco car wash scratched my car bonnet and wing. No water came out. Eventually they paid for respray. No compensation or apology. Not used it since.

What could the user do when the vehicle has started its journey and the machine is in operation? You just sit there until the light or sign tells you to go.
